On May 20–21, 2025, in Rome at Palazzo della Valle (Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, 101), Assoverde, Confagricoltura, and Kèpos, in collaboration with CREA, hosted the conference presenting the fourth edition of the White Paper on Urban Greenery – Focus 24/25: “Green in the Changing City.”
This new edition gathers 73 contributions—including scientific insights, policy experiences, case studies, best practices, and operational proposals—authored by 128 experts and professionals. Whether individually or as part of working groups, these contributors bring diverse disciplinary backgrounds and perspectives, offering a rich, cross-cutting reflection on the challenges and opportunities facing today’s urban environments.
Focus 24/25 addresses the complex and interconnected challenges that cities are facing now more than ever: climate change, ecological transition, demographic, economic, and social shifts, technological innovation, evolving public health and wellness needs, changing lifestyles, new value creation models, and transformations in how urban space is used and experienced.
In this context, urban and peri-urban green spaces emerge as strategic infrastructure. Trees, parks, gardens, urban farms, and green networks are increasingly seen as vital tools for urban regeneration, climate adaptation, social equity, economic development, public health, innovation, and civic engagement.
Focus 24/25 explores the many dimensions of change—climatic, institutional, technological, social, and cultural—moving from strategy to design, from governance to health, and from technical management to communication. Through concrete proposals and solutions, the publication offers guidance for policymakers, urban planners, technicians, professionals, and sector operators. Its ultimate goal is to identify priority actions, shape future choices, and foster a shared vision for the city of tomorrow: a greener, healthier, fairer, and undoubtedly more beautiful urban future.
