The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forests (Masaf) has launched a new call that allocates €100 million for Italian Food Districts. This funding aims to support the promotion and development of local areas, improve sustainability and competitiveness of local production, and contribute to reducing food waste. The call is aimed at Food Districts, which include local producers and agricultural enterprises, with the goal of encouraging the integration of production chains and the adoption of innovations in production and processing processes. Projects must have a minimum budget of €3 million and a maximum of €25 million. Investments in farms, including related activities such as agritourism, are covered at 65% as non-repayable grants. Additionally, the call provides for total funding of 100% as non-repayable grants for projects related to quality standards, promotional measures, research and development in the agricultural sector, dissemination of innovation, and communication activities.

Minister Francesco Lollobrigida declared, “These resources promote the integration of production chains and strengthen the role of Food Districts in the economic and social development of local areas.” Thanks to this call, the Food Districts will have the opportunity to enhance their competitiveness, improve environmental sustainability, and ensure local food security.
