Registrations Open for the AIPH World Green City Awards 2026

Registrations are now open for the prestigious AIPH World Green City Awards 2026. Initiated by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) and supported by its network of Green City Partners, the Awards promote ambitious, nature-based approaches for urban planning and management.

During the AIPH Spring Meeting in Chiang Rai, Thailand, AIPH opened registrations for the third edition of the AIPH World Green City Awards, the only global awards that place plants and nature at the center of attention. These awards recognize and celebrate bold, innovative actions that harness the power of plants and nature to create greener, healthier, and more resilient cities.

“Today, more than ever, we are faced with an epic challenge: ensuring that our cities remain livable and resilient in the face of climate change and growing urbanization,” says AIPH President Leonardo Capitanio. “As climate change predictions become a reality, it is clear that plants will be among the most valuable resources we have to keep our cities comfortable. We must recognize the importance of plants and trees and their ability to adapt to stress to ensure the health and well-being of all.”

Cities around the world are encouraged to showcase their greening initiatives and their commitment to nature-based solutions to address the key challenges faced by urban environments. The AIPH World Green City Awards 2026 includes seven categories:

  • Green living for biodiversity and ecosystem restoration
  • Green living for climate change
  • Green living for health and well-being
  • Green living for water
  • Green living for social cohesion and inclusive communities
  • Green living for urban infrastructure and livability
  • Green living for urban agriculture and food systems
