Green Agorà returns

On December 3rd, at the Pietro Barilla hall at the Fiere di Parma, there will be discussions about the new Green Italy fair and the European regulation on nature restoration.
Indeed, on August 18th, the EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND COUNCIL REGULATION ON NATURE RESTORATION came into force, and it is directly applicable in all member states. This regulation is a key milestone of the Green Deal to recover biodiversity, achieve climate neutrality by 2050, and improve food security and climate adaptation.
Restoring nature means supporting the recovery of degraded or destroyed ecosystems by enhancing their structure and functions, with the overall goal of strengthening the resilience and biodiversity of nature.

Healthy ecosystems can guarantee, among other things:
• an increase in agricultural productivity
• improved resilience to climate change
• greater biodiversity
• a lower risk of flooding, droughts, and heatwaves.

The new regulations will aim to restore the poorly maintained habitats in EU countries. The ecosystems involved are those of terrestrial, coastal, marine, and freshwater habitats.
The goal will be to implement, through national plans, restoration measures for at least 30% of these habitats by 2030, covering 60% by 2040 and 90% by 2050.
The Green Agorà will focus particularly on urban habitats and the necessary tree cover, also presenting concrete and ongoing experiences aimed at consistent urban regeneration.
